Taiyou: Banba and Harao (at least)

Oujo: Takami and Ootowara (at least)

Poseidons: Kobanzame (at least, but we don’t know any of the other upperclassmen, so it’s not a problem.)

All I can say is that even if no one knows why the hell I’m so obsessed with this story, at least I won’t be judged. Because this is Tumblr. <3

They don’t all have names yet, so I’m not going to go through that again. Just playing with facial variation and such (could be better).

This post is also going to be long, but if you’re an Eyeshield 21 fan and you feel up to the task, your input would be greatly appreciated. (Even you, Splickedy…though I know you’ve run over these with me many times before. Sorry!)

IT’S TINY OH GEEZ.

I apologize for the horrible quality; I’ll try to scan this again later at a better resolution… Stupid school scanners. Also, I apologize for any anatomical errors; I was drawing in pen the whole time so it’s a bit iffy.

You guys have seen some of my Captain Kobayakawa art before and I’ve rambled about the necessity of OCs in a fanfic about Sena’s second year of high school before.

Canon characters: Sena, Suzuna, Monta, Komusubi, Chuubou, Taki, the Hah Brothers.

OCs: (left to right) Takeda (QB), some kid I don’t have a name for yet but who apparently has horrible fashion sense (Fullback?), Kannosuke (Kicker), Takayama (position uncertain, possibly lineman or tight end).

I’d like to include a few more new members, especially on the line, but it would be hard to introduce them given the scenario I’m considering. I dunno…

The tricky part will be raising these new characters into a set of likeable people with the dedication to carry on the Devil Bats legacy. If you think about it, Deimon’s sports teams are renewing themselves every year—any given athlete only has two years to gain experience. That’s why they have to be so tough and hard-working; they have to make up for a smaller team and less time to work.

I could babble about this for a long time, but I might as well keep the whole spiel for when I have all the characters sorted out and the illustration’s better. XD

More Captain Kobayakawa stuff.

Captain Kobayakawa is an epic-length Eyeshield 21 fanfiction, in progress. It’s Sena’s second year of high school and the Devil Bats are aiming to win the Christmas Bowl again.

I’ll say it again: OCs are entirely necessary for a story like this. What matters is how well one makes them—not that I’m allowed to judge them for myself. The quality rating of any given OC is always at the mercy of the reader. But moving on…

The First One

Face/expression studies for new characters. The ones on top are OCs with a set place in the story: Kuroda “Kurome” Hajime (White Knights QB), Takeda Katsuo (Devil Bats QB), Miyamoto Kannosuke (Devil Bats Kicker), Takayama Yuu (Devilbats, position pending), and Miyamoto Hisako (Devil Bats manager? Pending, since we don’t know if Mamori’s allowed to be involved with the club her third year).

And below them are some random-face characters who have yet to be sorted onto teams. The pointy one cries involuntarily when he’s angry.

The Second One

Kurome and Takeda getting serious. This is assuming Deimon and Ojo face each other again…I would really hate for the tournament to be a carbon-clone of the original just so everyone can have rematches.

The Third One

Theoretical scenario for Kannosuke’s first game as kicker. He’s a former ski-jumper with injury trauma, which comes out under pressure. He’s extremely easily fazed by the defense on kick plays, which is something he’ll have to get over if he wants to help his team win.

So yeah. Last week I went to the library and came back with “Football Plays and Offenses”. I also have a book on coaching.

Inking practice! There are plenty of places where I screwed up, but overall my hand’s gotten a lot steadier.

More of Takeda, my ES21 OC (I should really post a few more of them here). I swear there are more OCs for this story—there have to be, given the number of graduating players. I’ll scan some stuff tomorrow or something…

He looks kind of down. Don’t really know what that’s all about.
